It's A......(Wait for it......Wait for it....) GIRL!

Kyle and I went to the doctor today to see if we were having a little boy or a little girl. Kyle was certain that it was going to be a little girl. After a while of the baby crossing its legs we were finally able to see that it is a girl. We are both so excited! The baby had her hands up hiding her face for most of the time, guess she is just like her mom and does not like to have her picture taken....

Climbing

We've become friends with a few people here who are pretty serious about rock climbing. They invited us to a climbing gym and we had a blast.  The kids all started out very tentatively.  They'd climb up a few feet and then demand to come back down. Yes there were a few tears.  But with each climb they'd go a little higher.  By the end everyone had reached the top.  I was so proud of their persistence and willingness to try.

For Aunt Jessie (confusing when your cousin is almost the same age as your mom)

We visited the Airplane Museum today (it is the home of the "birth of the helicopter"). It was my first visit so the boys were showing me around. There are two helicopters they could climb into. While the guide was trying to tell them about it, the boys continually interrupted them to say "my aunt Jessie flies helicopters. She is a pilot of an Apache." Sadly in February I had an issue on my computer and lost a lot of photos. I have tried to recover most. But our visit to Jessie's helicopters last August have disappeared. I haven't broken it to the boys yet because they will be devastated. They are so proud of her and so are we!

The Reid Family

These are a few newer pictures of my girls. A update on my family is that we are expecting another girl in the end of July. This will be the last addition to our family so we will be blessed with 4 girls that really know how to keep us on our toes. I am sure everyone has heard but if not I will tell you what has happened in the last few weeks. Three weeks ago I went into the hospital for right side pain and 12 hours later the doctors went in and took out my appendix. After the surgery the doctor gave me a 2 week window where we would know if the baby will survive or not. I have to say that as painful as it was to have Abby move and poke me all day it was a blessing that she was giving me the sign that everything was okay. It has been a very long trying year and as much as we would have liked to have a little boy we are very excited to bring another little girl to our family. Everything else is going great. I will post more pictures later. Thank you for all the prays and love that you all have sent my way we sure feel them.

Joy of Mud

For those that check our blog, this is old news. But it seems to describe our life well. No great trips for us. But I did dress my boys up in snow pants and let them go to town in the mud. Their pants doubled in size as they absorbed it. Nothing like mud as a recipe for shear joy.

Hawaii Tsunami

With all the tragic events in Japan, it seems almost in poor taste to talk about our Hawaii experience, as insignificant as it was. However, many have asked what happened to us over there, so I'll give a short account. We were in our hotel room, which was actually on the beach, watching the news on Thursday night. It was so awful to watch what was happening in Japan but then it hit closer to home as Hawaii was put on Tsunami-warning. It was suppose to hit about 3am, Hawaii time. The hotel said we should be ok if we stayed above the fifth floor, but they might have to evacuate us at the last minute to the town ballpark. We decided that didn't sound very encouraging, so we drove to the wardhouse (up on a hill) with the intention of spending the night in the car. We'd only been there about an hour before the lights went on, the doors opened and lots of people started arriving to spend the night. The missionaries were there trying to make everyone comfortable. People were sleeping in classrooms, on couches, in the pews, etc. We went in to use the bathroom, get a drink and listen to the reports, but then slept most of the night in our car. Kauai has a great alarm system...sirens went off every hour, so no one slept through the warnings. The tsunami that hit Kauai was only 8 feet, but that was high enough to cause a lot of flooding and quite a bit of damage in the harbors. (A tsunami doesn't just create a big wave...the ocean floor actually rises ... in Kauai's case 8 feet ... and then the whole wall of water comes ashore.) Maui was hit much harder. The roads opened back up around 8am and we headed back to the hotel. So, while we really weren't in any danger, it will definitely be a trip we'll always remember.

My chickens

I now have six chickens they are shadow, mist, stripe, goldenwing, talon, and I haven't named the last one. They are really cute.
